POUDRE COMPACT

The desire to honor forms and techniques can be observed in this square, yellow gold compact. The piece features modellato engraving all around its edges, while the lid has rigato and ornato work with midnight blue enamel coating. The latter further accentuates the 276 brilliant-cut diamonds (2.50 ct.), which are set into the white gold openwork bordering the edges from the inside.

The enameling technique is lifted from centuries of history (enameled Roman jewellery objects have been found dating back to the 2nd century A.D.) and applied to an accessory which forms a highly cherished part of Buccellati’s creativity. It is a creativity that finds multiple outlets in the elaborate designs, the intricate inlays, and the combinations of differently coloured stones and metals present on this everyday object.
