The  parure comprises a caschinpetto necklace with 72 lapis lazuli spheres (400.00 ct.), while the two accompanying earrings were made using two 20.00 carat lapis spheres.

Curiously, we can see how the commissioning of this set came about via numerous amicable letters exchanged between Mario Buccellati and the poet Gabriele d’Annunzio. The poet wrote to his jeweler friend:
“Also, when I was in Milan, I asked you to make me a necklace of blue stones. Do you remember? I would like it.”
And so it came to pass.
