HISTORICAL RECORDS RESTORATION

Milan 2024

Since the beginning, Mario Buccellati drew the attention of a prestigious and cosmopolitan set of clients, whose names were only revealed by the historical records of his first boutique in Milan. Mario, with meticulous precision, used to draw and describe the objects by recording the materials, the carats, the cost, the value, and, on the side, the name of the buyer. These records, preserved within Buccellati Historical Archives, allowed the Heritage & Patrimony Team to build a track of the artistic production as well as the prestigious clientele of the Maison.

As a part of its devotion towards the preservation of its patrimony, Buccellati has started a restoration project of the historical documents in its archive, among which the precious selling records. The restoration process involved several steps, varying from register to register: from repairing gaps to binding and stitching pages, to the delicate reconstruction of an original label or cover.
