The history of the Ramage line, another cornerstone of the Icona collection, clearly underlines how Nature, in its simplicity and expressive power, represents an endless source of inspiration for the Maison. Leaves and flowers create complex and captivating weaves, a veritable challenge for goldsmiths and engravers, who grapple with metal to endow it with strength and elegance. No historical or architectural references are available, except for a few ornaments from the 13th century. The unrivalled protagonist is majestic Nature, inspiring muse of all the greatest creative minds through the centuries.
Crafted using the ancient openwork technique, the Ramage motif was conceived by the founder, Mario Buccellati, by braiding leave and flower details to create unique silhouettes. A forest interspersed with diamonds, which turns the rigid nature of gold plates into light, almost impalpable, textures. Gianmaria’s handcrafting expertise then simplified the Ramage line, adding further linearity and subtlety. The winding twists disappeared, leaving room for an interplay of small leaves that chase each other along a single branch.
