A NIGHT AT THE OPERA HANDBAG
Proof of the close relationship between La Scala and Buccellati comes from the family archives. Mario Buccellati began to produce these evening purses when he realized that they were becoming true fashion accessories.
Using his skill and taste, Mario was able to transform these purses into veritable, highly valuable jewellery. The Buccellati purse was very small and made of precious fabric. The latter was often soft, coloured velvet, and on occasion silk embroidered with different-coloured threads. The Buccellati purse was inlaid in silver or decorated with enamels, pearls and diamonds applied on the closure.
